Exploration and Practice of Improving Experimental Skills of Graduate Students in Botany

  • Botany is an experimental-based discipline. The level of scientific innovation depends on experimental skills of postgraduate students. Botanic Lab of Central South University of Forestry and Technology has the problems of few laboratory management staff and weak experimental technology foundation for graduate students. We had taken three measures to improve the experimental skills of postgraduate students based on fully investigation of the major experimental skills. Firstly, we set laboratory course according to the need of the dissertation; Secondly, we carry out special experimental training according to the need of the project; Thirdly, we build laboratory assistant system,and some highly responsible students participated in laboratory management and training to improve graduate experimental skills. Practice shows that these measures obtain good effects in improving the student’ s experimental abilities.
