Abstract
In response to the “foundation-based, industry-oriented” training requirement of the School of Chemical Engineering of Sichuan University, the gas-solid two-phase catalytic reactor of catalytic ethylbenzene hydrogenation was used in experimental teaching for undergraduate students majoring in chemical engineering. As this experiment covers a number of chemical and chemical engineering experimental operations, it requires the students to apply their professional knowledge regarding the instrumental analysis, mathematical statistics, chemical engineering principles and catalytic engineering. Using catalyst particles of different meshes has helped students learn about the structural characteristics and operation methods of gas-solid two-phase catalytic reactor, and improve their basic skills of loading and activation of catalysts, and master the influence regularity of catalyst meshes on effective internal diffusion factors and the determination method of intrinsic kinetic parameters. Therefore, this experiment has proven effective in training and improving students’ innovative abilities such as analysis and judgment, logical reasoning, data induction and summarizing, and achieved comprehensive experiment teaching.
