Experimental System of Inverted Pendulum Based on Data Acquisition Card

  • An inverted pendulum experimental system based on NI USB6210 data acquisition card is developed to tackle the problems existed in the experimental devices of the modern control theory course. Firstly, the upper computer of the experimental system receives the location signal of DC motor and angle signal of pendulum arm in real time through the data acquisition card, before double closed-loop control calculation. Secondly, PWM control wave and motor rotation signal are exported to motor drive circuit through the data acquisition card, in a bid to control DC motor, secure a stable equilibrium position of inverted pendulum and pendulum arm in vertical upward position. By harnessing LabVIEW software to program the operating interface, collect data and control operations, the inverted pendulum system enables us to obtain various experimental data in real time and set PID parameters in a fast way. The completely open system allows students to program different control algorithms which they may experiment with, thereby contributing to the cultivation of their abilities to innovate.
