Abstract
Considering the difficulties of airflow visualization and the abstract jet theory in ventilation engineering, this paper uses schlieren imaging technology to conceive a new experiment method for free jet theory and an experimental teaching design is carried out. Schlieren imaging technology has significant advantages as the visual effect is prominent and the size of the visualized flow field can be quantified. A “Y” type optics experiment system was established based on the principle of schlieren method. With the aid of ventilation and air conditioning experimental platform and traditional thermal measuring wind speed components, the turbulent free jet development rules can be clearly demonstrated, and quantitative characteristic parameters of the free jet can be obtained. In this experiment, schlieren visualization method is combined with ventilation jet theory, the experimental results are visual and intuitive, and the experimental process is highly operational, which helps students to fully understand the basic jet theory knowledge and difficulties in ventilation engineering, and is effective in cultivating their innovation and practical ability.
