Comprehensive Experimental Design and Implementation of Mixing Frequency Distortion in High Frequency Circuit

  • As a crucial component of superheterodyne receivers, the mixer, involving non-linear electronic circuits, has long been a challenging topic for theoretical and experimental teaching in universities. This paper presents a comprehensive mixer distortion experimental circuit using the common analog multiplier MC1496 as the mixer core. By remotely connecting to signal sources, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers via computers, the experimental circuit facilitates traditional mixer experiments, allowing observation and recording of normal mixing effects. Furthermore, it enables dual-tone testing and mixer distortion analysis under various scenarios. Practical teaching demonstrates that this experiment effectively extracts the intrinsic characteristics of mixer circuits, comprehensively covering complex scenarios under both normal and faulty conditions, fully meeting the requirements of university teaching experiments and engineering testing practices.
