Design of Experiment Teaching on the Synthesis, Separation and Characterization of Isomers

  • Based on the instrument of the comprehensive training and teaching platform (the professional laboratory of chemistry, Sichuan University), organic chemistry experimental course (the synthesis, separation and characterization of isomers) was introduced to fundamental experimental teaching process. This experiment started from the synthesis of isomers. Then these isomers were characterized by LC-MS and purified by column chromatography. And finally all isolated isomers were identified by 1H NMR. Importantly, the research task presented is aimed to promote the undergraduate students’ creative thinking and improve the ability to solve the problems of organic chemistry.
