Abstract
A comprehensive experiment of metal corrosion and protection was designed and developed in this paper, in order to improve the teaching outcome of courses on metal corrosion and protection and help students to master the course knowledge. The design idea, experimental principle, experimental process design and experimental evaluation system of the comprehensive experiment are described by observations of different iron nails in 3% NaCl and potential measurements of different metal materials. This experiment contains several points of knowledge such as corrosion primary cell, galvanic corrosion and cathodic protection. Through this experiment, students can observe the formation of microscopic and macroscopic corrosion cells, understand the principle of cathodic protection, and analyze the formation condition of galvanic corrosion.
