Abstract
As a racing car that needs to participate in a dynamic race, the FSAE is a lightweight design that optimizes dynamic performance. As part of the transmission system, the lightweight design of half-shaft can not only reduce the weight of the vehicle, but also improve the efficiency of the transmission system. In this paper, the FSAE racing half-shaft design is taken as the research object. By calculating the engine power output check half-shaft strength, combined with the theoretical formula and design experience, a hollow half-shaft with 4130 seamless steel tube as the main body is designed and the torsion experiment is carried out. The experimental results and the actual performance of the field show that the hollow half-shaft performance meets the design requirements, and the cost analysis shows that the hollow half-shaft has a high cost performance and can replace the traditional solid half-shaft.
