Abstract:
The experimental program “Testing the Spontaneous Combustion Characteristic Parameters of Materials” utilizes the basket heating method to measure the spontaneous combustion activation energy of solid combustible stacks. However, due to the substantial experimental workload and long duration, there are numerous challenges in implementing this experiment in teaching. To enhance this experimental program, this paper proposes an experimental process for determining spontaneous combustion activation energy based on the Jones method, and compares the experimental results obtained by the basket heating method. The verification results indicate that the spontaneous combustion activation energies measured by the basket heating method and the Jones method are 74.7 kJ/mol and 79.3 kJ/mol, respectively, which are similar in magnitude. The improved experiment can be completed within 2 class hours, facilitating the organization and implementation of experimental teaching.
