Abstract:
This study transforms the research findings of highly sensitive colorimetric copper ion probes into a comprehensive undergraduate chemistry experiment that integrates organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and instrumental analysis teaching modules. The experiment employs a copper(II)-catalyzed oxidation system to induce the generation of organic radicals from small-molecule probes, and achieves the visual detection of trace copper ions in aqueous systems through distinct color changes. Students can consolidate the theoretical knowledge of metal-catalyzed radical reactions, master the experimental skills of organic synthesis, purification, structural characterization, and photophysical analysis, and establish the thinking mode of analytical method construction and practical sample detection, thereby improving their practical research ability and application-oriented innovation awareness.
