Abstract: In order to set up the populus tomentosa tissue culture experiment in undergraduate biology teaching gradually, a series of researches and explorations were carried out by the experimental teaching center of biological sciences in Sichuan University.Through optimizing the teaching content, taking open management pattern, organizing subgroup activities, and increasing the proportion of comprehensive and designed experiments, the teaching of populus tomentosa tissue culture experiment has achieved good results in small-class practice.The setup of this experiment urged students to master the basic theories and operating skills of plant tissue culture technology, strengthened students‘ learning initiatives, and cultivated their abilities of experiment design, scientific practice and independent innovation.
