Integrated NC Cutting Experimental Teaching with Virtual Simulation and Machine Learning

  • To address the limitations of NC cutting simulation experiments in “New Engineering Disciplines”, this paper proposes an experimental teaching model that integrates virtual simulation with machine learning. Using VERICUT, an environment is established to formulate machining parameters and design simulation experiments for a typical part in the aviation and aerospace fields — the helicopter dynamic ring. An experimental teaching system based on machine learning is designed and developed, which incorporates advanced models to optimize the machining parameters and schemes for the dynamic ring. By building a mapping between process data and machining parameters, the improvements in experimental schemes are explored and the efficiency and quality enhancements of new schemes are evaluated. The proposed teaching model, integrating experimental teaching, new methods, and industrial needs, overcomes the limitations of traditional NC simulation teaching. It deepens students’ understanding of the cutting process, and cultivates their engineering skills and interdisciplinary thinking. Finally, it meets the requirements of "New Engineering Disciplines".
