Abstract: Engineering training, an important part of higher education especially science and engineering training program, is also very crucial to cultivate the engineering awareness and engineering capability of students majoring in art design. Starting from the training concept of the “combination of art and engineering” and centering on the art design (engineering training) talent training system of our school, this paper analyzes the necessity of engineering training for art design students, the rationality of implementation, and the existing problems. In terms of training guarantee and curriculum system construction, it is proposed to construct a “multidimensional” art design engineering training and education model. Under the background of the “combination of art and engineering”, a practical path for cultivating innovative design talents required for the development of the new era is explored.
