Abstract:
Besides their ornamental value, biological specimens are also very important to promote the development of science popularization, teaching and scientific research. The preparation of specimens should be scientific, and the natural shape of specimens should be restored as much as possible. Choosing appropriate filling materials is an important measure to restore the shape of specimens themselves. Based on the conventional method of preparing birds’ stripped specimens, this paper puts forward the preparation methods suitable for young ostrich specimens, such as auxiliary filling of PP cotton, improvement of preservatives, use of crystal drops and softener, etc. This improved technique makes the specimen shape fuller and more realistic, and the manufacturing process is safer, more environmentally friendly and more operable.
