Abstract:
Large-scale instruments serve as a crucial foundation for scientific research and the exploration of cutting-edge technologies in universities. However, due to their high cost, significant operational and maintenance expenses, the requirement for specialized operational expertise, and their relatively limited availability, their role in undergraduate training is very limited. This paper describes the initiatives implemented by the School of Physics at Shandong University in undergraduate training, which are centered on the use of large-scale instruments, such as online and offline instrument courses being offered, scientific research training being conducted, assistant management positions being established, and subject competitions being supported. These initiatives have enhanced the supporting role of large-scale instruments in undergraduate training, talent cultivation, and graduate employability.
