Abstract:
Large sophisticated instruments are significant resources in a university and play an increasingly important role in both teaching and scientific research. In this work, the characteristics and problems of managing such infrequently used equipment in a research laboratory were carefully analyzed and concluded. More importantly, an effective solution for potential conflicts was presented. Furthermore, based on the concepts of “special management”, “public using”, “reservation and share” and “society serving”, an extensible online-booking platform for instruments management in a research laboratory has been constructed. This platform is functional and modular, permitting administrators to manage equipment flexibly and allow users to submit their applications for equipment using with a mobile app in convenience. Especially, this platform is quite suitable for those customizable and personalized tesing requests. With this platform, the level of communication and cooperation of disciplines, the efficiency of utilizing and sharing of large sophisticated instruments can be significantly promoted.
